Occasional Journeys Through Mindfulness: Adventure, Craft, and Connection

My name is Jeff Jones. Welcome to my blog.

Along with my wife, Kim, I hope to share a bit of our lives, passions, and journeys, both past and present, with our friends and others with similar interests.

For many years, our lives revolved around triathlons, boating, skiing, camping, and biking. Then, in March 2019, I hit an unlit steel pole while night skiing at Boyne Mountain. I shattered my left shoulder, broke my left tibia, fibula, and patella. I also tore my ACL and shredded my PCL. Then, after a couple of weeks, I found myself in the hospital with bilateral subdural hematomas.

I was fortunate that, at the time of my accident, I was training for an IronMan Triathlon and was in great shape. The next year was spent recovering and trying to figure out the next chapter of our lives. I was no longer going to be able to run. I was never going to be able to bike or swim with the same energy and passion. But we have adjusted to hikes and shorter rides and are finding the passion and love of the outdoors in other ways.

In February 2023, we bought a Ford Transit Trail and spent the last year building it into our dream van. It is nearly complete, and we are looking forward to this newest chapter of our lives.
